Iranian coal FAQ

Specifications are indicative. Final quality follows the certificate of analysis of each cargo or lot.

Sources
Where is Iranian coal delivered?

At the Rimdan (Iran) / Gabd (Pakistan) border crossing near Gwadar, either ex-works or delivered to customs.

How does the bonus / penalty work?

The price moves with the tested ash: +2% below 17% ash, +1% for 17 – 22%, no change for 22 – 28%, −1% for 28 – 32% and −2% above 32%. Volatile matter above 17% costs 0.5%.

Why is low volatile matter important?

At 9 – 17% volatile matter this coal ignites more slowly than RB2 or Indonesian coal. Kilns usually blend it with a higher-volatile coal.

How much is available?

About 5,000 tonnes a month per supplier, with pricing on request.
